Introduction - Why I do what I do

I believe communication is not just about words. It’s about presence, choice, and the courage to stay real in contact with others. I’m curious about what makes connection possible, even when it seems out of reach. Again and again, I see how life opens when people dare to speak from what’s true and listen with their whole being.

Once, in a meeting where tension filled the air, someone whispered, “I just want this to work.” That one sentence changed everything. Not because it solved the conflict, but because it was real. That’s the space I love to hold.

Since discovering Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in 2012, my work has been devoted to exploring how authenticity can thrive in structured environments, workplaces, organizations, and systems where clarity is often valued more than connection. I love to be in the middle of that tension: where the human and the professional meet, where vulnerability and strength are both welcome.

My Path - From Architecture to Connection

Before I started working with NVC, I studied and practiced architecture. I was fascinated by how space influences how we live, meet, and move. Later, I realized that conversations are like buildings; they need structure, light, and air. They shape our inner and outer worlds.

During my first job as an architect, I watched people argue over walls and windows, yet what they really wanted was to be seen and heard. That’s when I started paying attention to the architecture of words.

My years in architecture, community projects, and creative facilitation taught me how form and freedom can coexist. I’ve worked in refugee camps, community centers, and boardrooms, always guided by one question: How can we stay human together?

When I encountered NVC, it felt like finding a blueprint for that question — a living architecture of communication that connects words with needs, head with heart, and people with life itself.

My Work - What I Bring into the World

Today, I guide individuals, teams, and organizations to bring more authenticity and connection into their daily communication. I facilitate conversations that are real, sometimes uncomfortable, and always aimed at understanding what truly matters.

My work includes:

  • Facilitating dialogue and team processes in companies, organizations, and communities

  • Coaching individuals to express what they truly want, with clarity and compassion

  • Supporting leaders and groups in navigating feedback, conflict, and collaboration

  • Teaching NVC in ways that are grounded, creative, and body-based

In a session with a team on the verge of burnout, we paused to breathe before speaking. Someone said, “This silence feels strange.” Another replied, “It feels safe.” That moment said more than any training slide ever could.

I’ve also created audio journeys, workbooks, and creative learning tools that weave storytelling, reflection, and practice, inviting people to explore communication as an art of being real.

My Approach - How I Work

My approach is spacious and embodied. I combine clarity with curiosity, play with precision, and silence with expression. I invite people to slow down, sense what’s alive in them, and give words to it.

I draw inspiration from embodiment and body awareness practices, learning to listen from the inside, as well as creative processes and community work, bringing play, art, and movement into dialogue.

I don’t believe in fixing people. I believe in creating conditions for presence, so people can discover their own wisdom, find their words, and act from what’s alive in them.

Sometimes, a participant looks up with tears and says, “So this is what listening feels like.” Those are the moments I live for, when presence turns into connection.

When a connection happens, even for a moment, it changes everything. There’s relief, understanding, and often laughter. Because being real is not heavy. It’s liberating.

My Context - Life, Relationships, and Community

I live in the Netherlands with my partner and our two children. They are my greatest teachers in communication, reminding me daily that love and truth can exist together, even in chaos. Outside my professional life, I’m part of several community projects: a neighborhood garden, an inclusive playground, and an initiative creating spaces for open dialogue across differences.

Music, movement, and nature are essential to me. Singing, dancing, and walking remind me that connection is not just a concept; it’s something we practice with our whole bodies.

Core Intention

At the heart of my work is a deep trust in life’s movement toward connection. I see communication as a living art, one that keeps evolving through community, practice, courage, and curiosity.
