I was introduced to NVC in a gentle, loving, and practical way: by witnessing the relationship between my sister-in-law and my brother with their four young children over 20 years ago. She was already on her NVC journey, and I was enchanted by what I saw and by our conversations about power dynamics, about giving and receiving in a single gesture — genuinely, from the heart.

I was inspired by these experiences and embarked on my own exploration of NVC in practice, which has transformed me and continues to do so every day. Later, I discovered Mindfulness, which also brought about profound changes in me. I became a certified Mindfulness instructor in 2019, integrating it into my NVC practice in both my personal and professional life with groups in various contexts. My growing understanding of interdependence, the systemic perspective, and the potential for social transformation through NVC led me to study and work with related themes such as unconscious biases, diversity, and leadership.

As a university professor, I share NVC with a focus on contributing to social transformation through a variety of initiatives: regular classes on different topics, both in internal programs and external offerings for society — through the social technology lab I coordinate — as well as in research and academic work at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have brought NVC to hospitals, schools, and other organizations through diverse initiatives such as programs for groups and leaders; an NVC track within a Diversity and Social Impact project; and facilitating an ongoing book club discussion on the book “Me and White Supremacy”.I have participated in various NVC groups, I’ve been facilitating a NVC practice group since 2020, and I am part of the NVC Práxis community in Brazil.

In 2021, I began my certification journey with the CNVC, which radically expanded my capacity for self-connection, self-compassion, and equanimity; it allowed me to experience and savor self-responsibility and making choices, as well as receiving and offering support, company, partnership, and community — all of which were vital for navigating the challenges that are part of this journey. I have also experienced the power of creativity and the openness to create and experience different strategies for caring for everyone involved in challenges, which aligns with my work as a certified trainer in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® methodology, based on creativity and innovation.

I am deeply grateful to every person from whom I have learned and continue to learn, and I carry with me a living commitment to offer and share — especially in Brazil — the support and company I have received, hoping to contribute more and more to the practice of NVC wherever I may be.
