Are we currently headed toward an Integral golden age, or a deep cultural regression? What role will spirituality and consciousness play in that evolution, if any? We are currently experiencing a renaissance of psychedelic usage and a focus on the collective dimensions of consciousness not seen since pre-modern or even pre-traditional eras. What are the positives and negatives of engaging in these ancient modalities? As we move further out of modernity with its skeptical, rationalistic safeguards and open hostility to ancient/postmodern modalities of exploring the inner universe, how does that change the waters of culture in which we swim? Are we invoking the beneficial energies of a gentler age, or the demon-haunted world that Carl Sagan famously feared? In this session, we will explore the dynamic trajectory of cultural evolution and the role the intersubjective dimension, empowered and enabled by psychedelics, might play in tipping the balance of the future.
