Integral

Though the Integral, yoga, and mindfulness communities speak often of the value of meditation and “presencing” exercises, it is not often clear how it can help us move more easily along in our evolutional journey.

While specific meditative and thought practices are used to conceptualize the levels and quadrants of Integral Theories and practices, we would like to demonstrate how gaining a functional awareness of body and brain/mind can contribute to that endeavor.

However, before offering explanations or examples of how the body and the mind contribute, we would first like to offer an exercise that will hopefully create an experience within you that you can relate to the concepts we discuss afterward.

The reference to “amygdala” suggests this work involves the fight, flight, or freeze response. But the term “hi-jacking” suggests we can unwittingly remain caught in a triggered state for hours, and even much longer. Come learn about how nearly anyone can get better at reducing our triggered-time, down to mere seconds in most cases. Until Thursday…..

DIRECTIONS: From Rancho Santa Fe Road, turn onto El Camino Del Norte. Go 6⁄10 of a mile, then turn Left onto Val Sereno. When Val Sereno dead ends at Via de Caballo, turn Right. At the dead end cul de sac, turn Right at a large wooden sign with house numbers and follow the narrow extension down the hill. At the bottom of the hill, turn Left. My half of the townhouse is at the end, 3197, double green doors.

Parking is limited. One car can park in front of my end of the duplex. One car can park to the right of my duplex neighbor. Three cars can park in the guest slots before the townhouse. The rest of you will have to park at the top of the hill before the wooden sign and then walk down the hill. I suggest that you bring a flash light to return up the hill to your car. Sorry for this inconvenience.
